Eggs

Our chickens are an eclectic group of heritage, mixed and whatever we fancied adding to our coop! They are all free ranged, as in they are free to wander our property (though they particularly love our orchard)! Chicken feed is available at all times, along with water, and they have comfy big coops for safety. Our guardian dog is also on patrol to keep them safe from predators. Because our chickens forage and get to do normal chicken things outdoors, their egg yolks usually a nice orange/yellow colour and very nutrient dense, tasty!

We don’t keep our hens under lights in winter to keep them laying. Instead, we allow our hens to take their natural seasonal break and put their energy into staying warm during the winter. Because of this, our eggs are available depending on our chicken’s seasonal habits.

Since we are asked often what our chickens eat, they eat whatever they find while foraging (plants, berries, fruit, bugs), ecological chicken feed (brand of what we buy does vary), fermented chicken feed, sunflower seeds, and vegetable scraps from our kitchen.

Our duck team includes rare Silver Apple Yards, khaki Campbells, and Muscovy.

Duck eggs are about twice the size of chicken eggs, and are very nutrient dense. They are prized by bakers because the extra large yolks help baked goods rise higher, meaning extra fluffy cakes and pastries of all sorts!

We have duck eggs available dependant on seasonal availability, as some of our ducks do not lay all year round and take a break at times.

A dozen chicken eggs $7

A dozen duck eggs $10

All our eggs are farm gate sales only and come unwashed.

Unwashed eggs have “bloom” on them which can keep the eggs good for weeks until washed.

Please wash your eggs before eating.
