Walking Roots Farm is a small family run farm in Madoc, Ontario, where we grow vegetables, fruit and herbs using no-dig methods, as well gather pasture raised eggs. We believe that we can go beyond “organic” practices to bring more biodiversity to our farm, help sink carbon, lower our overall footprint and regenerate the land that we are fortunate to steward. We want to develop a relationship with this land and leave it better than we found it.
Our chickens, geese and ducks forage under our fruit trees in our orchard and wander our fields of natural grasses and native pollinator plants. Our bees help out the gardens! We welcome wildlife with bird houses and planting native trees and flowers. Everything and everyone is part of the natural system here.
We would love to share this land’s gifts with you!
Land Acknowledgement:
We respectfully acknowledge that our farm is located on Michi Saagiig (Mississauga First Nations), Treaty 27 territory. Long before settlers came to this area, both the land and waters here were, and still are, the traditional lands of the Michi Saagiig, Anishinabek, Wendake-Nionwentsïo, and Haudenosaunee peoples.
